The Di3A rooftop garden, under the guidance of Professor Giuseppe Cirelli and Dr. Liviana Sciuto, was visited by a delegation from Tsinghua University as part of the reciprocal student and faculty exchange program, aimed at fostering education and research on sustainable development.

The Tanwei College of Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious academic institutions in Beijing and ranked among the world’s top twenty universities in international rankings, is renowned for its excellence in training talent in Chemical Biology, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Pharmacy.

The Chinese delegation was welcomed at the Rectorate of the University of Catania by Vice-Rector Professor Francesca Longo, who formally greeted the visitors and introduced them to the academic structure and programs of the University of Catania.

One of the key stops on the visit was the Department of Agriculture, Food, and Environment (Di3A), where an institutional reception was coordinated by Vice Director Professor Simona Consoli, Erasmus and Internationalization Coordinator Professor Vittoria Catara, Professor Giuseppe Di Vita, Head of the Master’s Degree Program in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, and Professor Antonio Biondi, Coordinator of the PhD Program in Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Sciences.

Following this, several researchers from the department, including Liviana Sciuto, Alessia Marzo, Daniela Vanella, Emanuele La Bella, Emanuele Scialò, Stefania Bennici, and Giorgio Gusella, presented their ongoing research and academic activities.

The meeting served as a significant academic and cultural exchange, further strengthening the collaboration between the University of Catania and Tsinghua University in the fields of environmental sustainability and the development of innovative green technologies.
