Ph.D. candidate Emanuela Rita Giuffrida, from the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment, has written an article for UNICTMAG focused on promoting sustainable strategies for managing rainwater in urban and suburban areas. The article delves into nature-based solutions such as green roofs, rain gardens, and permeable pavements. These topics are central to the GIFLUID project – Green Infrastructures to mitigate Flood risks in Urban and sub-urban areas and to Improve the quality of rainwater Discharges, part of the Interreg VA Italy-Malta 2014-2020 program. Throughout the project, technicians and professionals from the cross-border territories of Malta and Sicily have discussed potential green solutions to address these environmental challenges.
